The Source of the Island

Jack as the light returnsThe light underneath the island was a hole in our universe which allowing matter / antimatter from elsewhere to seep in. The rock was a wedge that kept the hole open just enough for some of this matter to get into our universe. This was used to usurp our realities and laws of physics, such as shifting the island in space / time, etc. This wedge kept the gap open just enough, but not enough to cause it to seal itself back up again. This gap was also doused in running water to help keep it under control, with the side effect of the water containing special healing properties.

Removing the rock allowed the light to go out and matter / antimatter to enter our universe. This began to destroy the island. If left open, it would have eventually destroyed our universe too. Jack had to put the plug back in place to stop this. This was illustrated by Jacob himself with the cork in the bottle of wine.

The smoke monster was an entity from outside the universe, possibly made of carbon atoms and loose covalent bonds that had to take the form and memories of a dead person to interface with this reality. Desmond went inside the cave but was not turned into a smoke moster simply because he was alive when he entered. Jacob’s brother however was thrown into the cave and died when he hit the ground. Desmond found skeletons lying inside the cave, possibly from other people who had tried to enter and died.

Rebecca Mader Returns To ‘LOST’ Tonight

Charlotte Lewis back on LOSTThroughout the history of “LOST,” long-dead characters have had a tendency to reappear, whether through ghostly visions, flashbacks and now, in its final season, flash-sideways’. In the first handful of new episodes, fans were reacquainted with characters such as Charlie Pace and Boone Carlyle, and we know that there are going to be other future appearances as well from the likes of Michael Dawson and the enigmatic Libby.

Now, you can add another name to the list — Rebecca Mader is returning as Charlotte Lewis.

In an exclusive interview with MTV News, Mader spoke about coming back to the Island for a surprising guest appearance on tonight’s episode of “LOST,” titled “Recon.” According to Mader, the decision to bring back Charlotte — who died in the fifth season due to time displaced brain trauma — was just as surprising to her as it must be for fans.

LOST Candidates Central to Plot

The executive producers of LOST have suggested that the candidates are central to the show’s final season.

In a recent episode, it was revealed that the numbers – 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42 – correspond to a group of people called ‘the candidates’.

It later emerged that Locke, Hurley, Sawyer, Sayid, Jack and either Jin or Sun were the names attached to the numbers.

“The concept of the candidates is really central to the final season of the show,” Carlton Cuse told TV Guide. “Jacob is dead so that leaves a significant problem for the people on the island.

“Who is destined to be the person protecting this place?”

Death May Be In The Cards For Popular ‘LOST’ Character

It’s the final season and the fate of the entire cast of “LOST” is up in the air.

But, according to actor Michael Emerson, Benjamin Linus may be one of the ones to go. During an interview with E! Online, Emerson revealed that one of the upcoming sideways flashes will center on his character (who is now a teacher) and it will be one of the more important episodes of the seasonal arc.

“You’ll see the biggest Ben episode ever in the next two weeks,” he said. “It’s a big one, and it may be the last one of the Ben episodes… It’s worth watching.”

As previously revealed, Ben will have a connection to John Locke (Terry O’Quinn) and that will be explored through the flashes for both characters. Their journey in the newly re-created world will parallel what has gone on during their time on the island and it will be a cornerstone for the series.

LOST’s Stars Spill Secrets on Tonight’s Big Premiere

Hold onto your couch cushions. And get ready to scream your head off.

There is at least one moment that will make you shriek out loud in tonight’s two-hour LOST premiere, which is television at its very best. It is, as they say, a “game-changer.”

So what else is in store for this groundbreaking series’ final season? What about Walt? The Smoke Monster? Claire’s relation to Jack? I just chatted up the entire cast and show masterminds Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, and without giving away anything too spoilery (what’s the fun in that?), here’s what you need to know…
Will We See the Man in Black Again? Smokey? Jacob? Find out in the video above in the fun little game of “False, True or Hell No, I Won’t Tell You” that I played with some of the cast and producers. (I got some more serious scoop from them but it needs to hold til after the premiere so stand by for that.)

The Premiere Rocks. I’ll say it again: Tonight’s two-hour premiere is my favorite episode since LOST’s groundbreaking pilot five years ago.

LOST Season Six: Is Redemption Possible?

No matter what you think about LOST (i.e. if it’s the greatest show in TV history or one of the greatest shows in TV history), you must admire producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse for doing things their way.

They set a finale date years ago, they ignored ratings and they weren’t afraid to delve into the science-fiction world of time travel.

Now, with just 16 episode remaining, Cuse says in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly that he and Lindelof will continue to stick to their storytelling guns.

“We’re writing the show for ourselves,” he said. “It would be a terrible mistake to change the methodology that has sustained the show for this long.”

‘LOST’ finale going to disappoint fans

Matthew Fox has warned LOST fans that they may be left disappointed by the series finale.

Speaking to The Guardian, Fox said that there are fans of the show who have “written it in their minds”.

“I really love the way [series five] ended because it felt like the board had been set, the pieces were in place.

“But when you have a show that makes people think as much as LOST; where you’ve made them hypothesise about what it all means and where it’s all going on a plot level; ultimately you’re going to disappoint them because they’re going to want it to end a certain way, and it’s going to end its own way.”

Emerson claims ‘Fans will argue over finale’

Michael Emerson has claimed that LOST fans will argue when the series finale airs later this year. The 55-year-old actor, who has starred as Benjamin Linus since 2006, told TV Guide that not all viewers will be satisfied with the way the series ends. “Some will, some won’t [be satisfied], I’m sure,” he said. “That was bound to be, no matter what the ending is. There will be an argument about it. “I have high hopes for it being one of those things where you go, ‘Oh my God
